A new year has begun - 2008. It’s time to get your Life Story on paper!

We’re going at a fairly slow pace because of the other commitments I have in my life, so it’s never too late to join in. If you’re interested in joining us in this project, email me at bacindy@cox.net.

Here’s Lesson 2:

Read Chapter 3 of “How to Write the Story of Your Life.”

Select a Topic from one of the Memory Sparkers listed in this chapter and write another entry for your Life Story.

Post it when you are done so we can all enjoy it.

Happy New Year!

Assignment 1

Our textbook for this course is, How to Write the Story of Your Life by Frank Thomas. You’ll need to purchase a copy of your own or borrow it from the library. We’ll be reading each chapter and then doing the exercises.

After you receive your textbook, read the Intro, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Then do the assignment below:

Assignment 1: Get organized. Write a post on what you learned from Chapter 2 and tell us how you organized as a result of reading this. This is a good warm up exercise.

Writing Your Life Story

Filed under: 1-Life Story — Cindy Downes @ 12:00 am

After my mother and father died, I realized I knew very little about their life “before kids.” During the time that I volunteered for a local Hospice, one of the things I enjoyed most was listening to my “patients” tell about their lives. I wondered how much of their life story was known by their children? It seems most of us wait until it’s too late to write down our family history.

That gave me the idea for this blog. Not only am I going to write my life story as a lagacy to my children, but I am going to encourage those of you who are interested to do the same. We’ll work on it step by step, together. As we finish each “chapter,” I’ll put your life story up on this blog to share with others. (It must fit my “family reading” standards, however.). When your book is finished, I’ll show you how to self-publish it so you can share it with your children.

If you are interested in joining me in this adventure, email me (bacindy@cox.net) and let me know. I’ll send you an email each time I add something new for this blog.

Your job is to complete each lesson, email me your work, and I’ll add it to our blog.

I’ll also share how to self-publish a book, use a POD (print on demand publisher), or submit to traditional publishers and the pros and cons of each. So, when you’ve completed your book, you’ll know how to get it published!

So what are you waiting for? Read on!
